(Nov. 27/17) “Chillin’ With My Fave Couch Potato Spuddies–Me, Myelf, and I :) ”

Context: Upon reading (“I need/needed extra time to understand your last post”) comments from two of my favourite blog friends, insecurities tried to faint (of heart) Me into a corner.

Well, you can best bet that Myself and I weren’t gonna stand for that…

And, that got me to thinking on my feet. 🙂

Upon waking (yesterday), I decided to tackle the paradox of my desire to be understood while sharing in riddles…

I considered,

“Perhaps, on a subconscious level, it’s our way of (word)playing hard to get…a reversal whereby, instead of chasing/trying to win people over, we’re now inviting others to join us at arm’s length…”

“What if, having come to terms with the fact that close (healthy) relationships (of any kind) can be so challenging, we’d rather not be bothered…?”

“Preferring (beyond brief—lovely—conversations) to leave so much left unsaid, instead”?

Have you ever felt that way, Wonderfuls?

That (less-is) more avoidance is the better option?

Well, you know what?  We’ve got this!

Regardless of the effort it takes, our connection is proof of that. 🙂

To that end, sharing creatively is my way of cushioning the blow (-by-blow) of coming to terms with school of hard-knock lessons meant to increase my relationship satisfaction/contributions.

If, like me, your people-person temperament, and really good social skills leave you confounded by the reality that certain connections can be so repellent—

so unequivocally emotionally aversive—

let’s take (big) heart-y breaths of relief, for

within the context of connection, it’s consistent authenticity that’s the trippy/tricky thing.

It requires a much higher level of interpersonal mastery.

Human—thus influenced by a (somewhat reductive) socialization process–we each bring our unique challenges and chemistry to interactions…

As such, I’m clumsily—but, bravely—“doing better as I know better” (thank you for that frame of reference, Maya Angelou).

Furthermore, as far as my creative offerings go—knowing my kind-hearted blog friends as I do, their frankness gives me room to strongly consider that efforts to understand what I’m conveying gives others opportunities to stretch their understanding of themselves, too…

Which is the win-win I’ve been striving for ever since I started sharing here!

And, belief in the rightness of the process takes much of the sting out of (Bumble) bee-ing self-conscious as I strive to soar beyond internal messages related to the folly-la-la-la of attaining improbable (personal and literary) heights.

(*Okay, it’s time for “the most wonderful time of the fear”, again…a playful moment to explain what I meant by two points above.*)

Mythology holds that bumble bee flight is in direct conflict with the laws of physics.

Second, I’ve noticed that the blogging community’s cousin, Facebook, is rife with Christmas images, messages, and themes…and has been for a couple months…(*hmm, none involving any religious references…*)

Personally, I find it more gratifying to look forward to Christmas from early December on; but I get that people choose to embrace it early so as to enjoy all the anticipatory-hope and happiness it brings…

(*My “live and let live” philosophy is—If you’ve got an itch, sCratchet 🙂 *)

And, I mention this to say that effusive giving, togetherness, and good will to all needn’t be relegated to certain—limited/socially-sanctioned—times of the year…

For, if we can suspend belief long enough to cherish the magic of Santa Claus, Scrooge, Rudolph and the rest of the (Peanuts) gang,

surely we can support each other in our (year-round) odds-defying aspirations—

(Much the same, I imagine, as bumble bees stick to each other like honey through thick and thin(k positive) 🙂 )

But, to give Facebook it’s due–it does much to inspire me in it’s own write

For one thing, I love that it gives me a venue for shout-outs…

No matter my mood, I can always afford to be charitable where non-cents-ical whimsi-calls are (un)concerned…

For instance, following the next rare work occasion when I’m surprised to encounter one of my especially like-minded friends (who works on a team 30 minutes away),

I’ll follow up with this shout-out…

“Whoa-oh, it’s Mad Chicks, when I’m with you”!

(*Inside Scoop: the (1984) song “(‘Whoa-oh, it’s’) Magic” by the Cars just popped into my head and inspired that pun*).

Speaking of Facebook and inspiration…

Yesterday morning—

as I reflected that my niggling insecurities are the ghosts of seasons past—

I came across a quote that really uplifted me…

“If you focus on the hurt, you will continue to suffer.  If you focus on the lesson, you will continue to grow.”

This is a  true blue statement if ever there was one 🙂

It inspired a Me, Myself, and I version–

Even if you opt to train for the rat race, there’s no way of outrunning a last-place finish…so, follow your own lead!

Well, Dazzlers, as one who has “Some Nerve!”, I’ll dare to share another random (merry) pop-in:

A nod to C.S. Lewis’s (1950) classic, “The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe”—

my take is the Tryin’, the Twitch, and the Wordrobe—

and it includes a requisite portal that transports me to an enchanting social-media realm where my growth blurts serve to declutter my psyche.

Here, I make—and find—generous room in my walkin’ (the walk) close-it…an arm moi meant to end any recurring (uni)cycles of  emotional isola-shun.

None of the best-foot-forward glamour of fashion to be found in here, mind…but a good deal of the no-pressure, non-judgment comfort of pajamas…

(*which I am wearing now…as I do straight after getting home from work*)

And, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that this level of sharing provides magical invitations for us to collectively find ways to responsibly repurpose (not donate) our emotional bag(s)/age (old wounds)…

and, share our gifts! 🙂

And, on that note, and for what it’s worth…

Here’s the last of my offerings today, Delightfuls…

I found this quote months ago on Facebook; and I love how it it speaks to context/situational awareness:

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that It is stupid.” (Attributed to Einstein).

I hope you don’t mind a saucy elaboration on such a profound statement, friends…

This playful ending is tied to the Peanuts Gang pun..which paves a nod to Snoopy–

It’s a shout-out (with bleeps) to my Peeps!

Never believe that you’re being a b*tch…

Bea gall,

be daring,

be a golden retrieve-her….

and “don’t ever trade authenticity for approval!” (author unknown, but the quote was on a FB “Tiny Buddha” poster.)

Until next time, Amazers…

Thank you for being so wonderfully you!

God bless you and your loves 🙂

Affectionately,

Truly

P.S.  I can’t thank K and Adam for being such great supports…they never fail to take the time to make the most of my offerings–and are always so very appreciative and encouraging…I can say, without exaggeration, I am a better writer because of their support and feedback.  They also have two of my all-time favorite blogs! 🙂

  1. This post is one of your very best, Truly and not because of your lovely shout-out…your words warmed my heart (I’m a Snoopy, C.S. Lewis fan from way back!) and left me grinning…the light-hearted references to the upcoming season of frenzy and light has me looking forward to the beauty that will shine through no matter what! You are a jewel, my friend and I’m so happy to “know” you!

  2. I hope my words never “faint of heart you into a corner”… you are not a light read and that is why I love your posts… yep… no such thing as skim reading truly.
I am not a country music fan but in flipping channels on a drive home yesterday… I heard some country guy singing about a girl.. comparing her body to a back road… (I was laughing at that thinking only in country music could that line be used for a love song)… then i heard a line that describes how I feel about your posts…
oh man I can’t believe I am going to quote a country song… ” I’m a take it slow just as fast as I can”. (no typos… that is the actual way he says it… ‘I’m a take it’)
So don’t mind me… if I am readin’ fifteen in a thirty… I ain’t in no hurry…. (sorry I should stop… that song.. or the flu medicine had me laughing very hard…. one of the other lines that made me laugh was him saying that she fit into jeans so well she didn’t need a belt… )
Sorry let me get back to you (would have been an easier transition had he said corduroys instead of jeans)…
This is another fantastic post… my favorite line is!!!!
“enchanting social-media realm where my growth blurts serve to declutter my psyche”…
Wonder if you could work that into a country song….
Thanks for the shout out… and sorry if this a bit loopy… I am ill, on Nyquil, and I am off to responsibly repurpose my emotional bag(s)/age!…
Thanks again for your words… and I agree with K… you are a JEWEL!

    1. Thank you for taking precious time to connect…and, I hope your flu has long flown the coop (although, you loopy on Nyquil makes for a good time 🙂 ). I heard that country song on the radio a couple months ago, and word is, he wrote it after his girlfriend dumped him, and the song won her heart and they are either engaged–or married–as a result. As far as genres go, country music has a good deal of word play…such as Shania Twain’s “Man, I Feel Like A Woman”…
As we speak, I’m laughing so hard inside at the thought of you laughing at the lines of the song. You are an absolute delight and never fail to warm my heart. Thank you my friend…you are such a blessing 🙂

  3. It becomes a major challenge to satisfy the many personalities guided to our blog sites. Some want simplicity; others greater complexity. Some want to feel good and others just want to release their anger and frustrations. This is why it is so important to re-read our own work just prior to hitting that publish button. If the brain tells the heart, “I LIKE IT” it matters NOT what any “critic” states. The words you share in your own creative style will be appreciated by only those wishing to appreciate YOU. The number of people is unimportant; the truth and character behind these people make the relationship more meaningful and powerful than most of us realize.

Yours is a very special blog site and I (for one) appreciate YOU and all your hard work.

    1. You are just so kind and uplifting and put things so beautifully into perspective…I, too, believe that the best path to take is the one our intuition and heart steers us to…being true to myself and writing from/what’s on my heart and mind is what I will continue to do. I am grateful to know that you will do the same as well. You are making such an important world-difference. I genuinely feel your appreciation for who I am and what I share….and I appreciate You as well.

  4. I believe this is true. Intimacy can be difficult for those of us who have survived abuse. We use language — often unconsciously — to signal that fact. But it is possible to change this behavior, as you so clearly demonstrate, Truly.

As for “me, myself, and I”, they are not bad companions. Solitude is viewed in a negative light by our society. We rush to fill the silence with music, video games, game shows, advertisements, and the input of total strangers who have little or no concern for us.

God, however, speaks to us in the silence. He is always present, whether we sense Him or not. In good times or bad, we can trust our lives to Him.

Wishing you all good things, Truly,

    Anna ❤

      1. my feeling is that, in life, there is nothing as crucial to every facet of the existential experience as the most precise articulatory expressive conveyance thereof, which thereby facilitates the deepest and most profound portals of communication and cosmic connection. unfortunately, my own manner of expression is a jumbled mass of idiosyncratic verbosity and exorbitant superfluity. regrettably, it does reflect, to some degree, the chaos of my incessantly obsessive mind. i’m not even sure what i just said, but i must say that your gloriously nuanced neurotic articulations are exquisite. it’s as though your expression mirrors your actual thoughts. which is impressive and wonderfully whimsical. yes, i am truly what you have just witnessed. forgive me.

      2. Every word you wrote easily makes sense to me…thank you for sharing your insight and process with me. And, you are correct…I write exactly what comes to my mind as it comes to me….I so love that you get it and appreciate where I’m coming from…and I’m soooo happy to know that my words ring true. You and I are cut from similar cloth…and, I feel as though I’m flattering myself by making that comparison, but, again, I think you can understand my intention/where I’m coming from. Here’s a question…when did you discover your amazing gift for/writing style?
